Finally, after several years of fundraising, grant-writing, planning, and coordinating, our first container of 550 wheelchairs have arrived in Chimoio, Mozambique, ready for assembly and distribution. The chairs are designed to be used in the rugged terrain of developing countries and are built with materials available locally so that they can be maintained.

Each wheelchair takes about 15 minutes to assemble. Recipients are supplied with a wrench, air pump, patch kit, and manual for home maintenance, plus contact information for local resources should parts, service, maintenance, further training, or information be required.

We so thrilled to partner with the Rotary Club of Chimoio to provide the gift of mobility to the physically disabled poor in Mozambique. And we owe a special thanks to our own Deb Linden for the hours and days spent getting this shipment to it's destination. Just another reason why she's Rotarian of the Year for our District!
